Wappumouse is the venerated and formidable flagbearer of the team. Built by the joint efforts of Mr Loy and Mr Cheng, it has defied conventional wisdom and much more, and to its credit it has achieved 2 national championships to date, at the April ‘97 competition and SRG ‘97.
Painstakingly built by Mr Loy and Mr Cheng, with the latter making the sensor board. Its control program was in large part written by Mr Cheng, the rest being made up of the various technologies that the team developed. These included MMADS, as well as the *FS technology. The end result was an extremely deadly combination of speed, reliability and common sense, the very values that the team live by.
Wappumouse’s first major test came in April ‘97 competition, where it emerged as champion. In that same competition, Wappumouse also won the Fastest Micromouse Contest, setting a run time record for the competition path used. This record has not been broken to this day.
SRG ‘97 was the next test, and Wappumouse performed once again, clinching the top place by out-performing over 40 micromice from all over Singapore. This victory secured Wappumouse’s legendary status and gave the team a much needed morale boost.
Wappumouse’s next challenge will come in April ‘98 competition, where it will attempt once more to maintain its undefeated record. Under the capable overseeing of Mr Cheng, it stands ready to do just that.
